Playing the Loose Passive Game
In any poker game, you’ll have to make some adjustments to your strategies. A lot of topics covered in online poker manuals and tips give you ideas on how to play against solid opponents, but what about those games where it seems like everyone has gone crazy and you’re getting nearly every player in the game to play on the flop. Well, it’s time to change up the gameplan. A lot of your playable hands in a normal game will become obsolete. A10o and KQo, which are normally playable in certain positions, don’t do so well in these loose passive games. This is because the hands that usually win are big hands, straights, flushes, and fullhouse type online poker hands. So, when you’re adjusting, you’ll have to open up your range a little bit. Consider position nearly obsolete in a loose passive game. What you’ll be doing is raising with your suited connectors (the big ones in early position, and the smaller ones in late position), and learning how to ditch a losing hand pretty quickly. After all, as calling stations go, they chase to the river a lot. So what you’re looking to do is flop a monster and bet it hard. Again, you want to do this because, they’re not going to bet your hand for you. If you make some of these key adjustments, you’ll find that these games can become quite profitable.
