Orange to Provide up to 20Mb Download Speeds

Orange is currently offering a trial broadband service giving up to 20Mb download speeds to select customers. Orange is using its own fixed broadband network for providing the service.

The trial run is being done to check for any performance related issues before a complete launch of the new service happens. Interestingly, the price of this trial service is the same as that of the current 8 Mb broadband connection.

However, as is the case with all other broadband connections, the speeds of this new service will also be affected by the usual factors such the quality of line and distance between the broadband usage location and the local exchange (click for more info on broadband)

For maintaining constant communication with the trial users in order to assess their experience with the new service, Orange has setup a site where the trial users can get in touch with and get their issues resolved by a dedicated support team. The site will also be the place where Orange updates the users on various new developments.

Orange has not yet declared a date for a full launch but it is expected to take place before the end of this year.

Asif Aziz, Director of broadband and home, with the Orange UK division, said that this trial run was important to ensure a smooth launch of the service later. He also said that the new service is another step in fulfilling the company’s commitment to continuously advance its offerings and provide its users the most convenient and best broadband services.
