Nintento Wii Instock: Will I Ever Get a Wii?
When the Wii first came out the demand was entirely more severe than the supply. People came out in droves to wait the night in line (and in the cold in many places as it was released in November) for a chance at a copy of the console. Even if you had the console pre-ordered, your chances of getting it were slim unless you were in line early. Often the Nintendo Wii was not in stock, even months after the release, even now as a matter of fact.
When the system was first released, people gobbled up the entire inventory as fast as it came out. Merchants then slowly leaked more copies of the system to stores and those were bought just as quickly. Making it seem like the Wii was never in stock. Even today, stores are still sold out of Nintendo Wii’s.
With that said, there are a couple precautions one might take before they try and purchase a Wii straight-up. Firstly, Pre-order your system! It can work extremely well if the demand is exceptional (as it is on release dates). Call the retailer and pre-order over the phone, then pick up your system the same day, or the next day. Also, if the retailer allows it, why not put the system on hold for the day? Best to do this kind of thing early as the scarce quantities of the systems make them disappear early in the day.
